Prevalence of Pediculosis in Baquba City, Diyala Province

Background: Pediculosis capitis is an infectious disease caused by ectoparasite human insect, can be seen with the naked eye, which often causes scalp itching, it not a dangerous but annoying diseases. endemic parasitosis affecting many countries of world ,also prevalent in Iraq, affects children ,it ubiquitous problem have high resistance to some pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments.
 Objective: To estimate prevalence pediculosis Baquba city determine certain epidemiological criteria related pediculosis.
 Patients Methods: This cross-section study has been done on 155 patients affected lice who were visit dermatological clinical out patient teaching hospital Diyala, from first November 2020 thirty August 202, history physical examination was dermatologist, sheet special questionnaire used for every patient. 
 Results: The results show that less than 10 years 59(38.06%) mostly affected. It more females, they 123(79.35%), while males 32(20.64%). Girls had higher percentage, 39(25.16%) 123 other age groups. People living urban rural areas equally affected; 73(47.09%) 82(52.90%). highly distributed among students; 58(37.41%) 155.The most significant symptom itching people suffered 131(84.51%) no 24(15.48%). There relationship between infections family size. families overcrowded homes; 76(49.03%) only two bedrooms. common summer months April 21(15.54%) May 24(16.48%) June July 22(14.19%).
 Conclusion: school-age children, so we must spread awareness student about how are transmitted share hair comb or clips, also raising parents use effective beneficial treatments eliminate disease.
